What changed

In Statement A (September 2024), Lapid claims he proposed a unity government on October 7th and implies Netanyahu is the obstacle, framing himself as willing to join such a government. In Statement B (December 2024), Lapid flatly declares 'I will not sit in Netanyahu's governments,' explicitly ruling out joining any Netanyahu-led government even in exchange for support on a deal. These positions are genuinely incompatible: one presents willingness to join a unity government under Netanyahu's leadership (with Netanyahu as the blocker), while the other categorically rejects serving in any such government regardless of circumstances.
